About us

The partners James and his son Edward Crane, bring together a wide and varied knowledge of historic building construction.

Eddie concentrates on practical timber framing and conservation whilst James provides a technical and academic consultancy service.

Eddie is an apprentice trained craftsman and a SPAB William Morris Craft Fellow. He is experienced in many traditional aspects of building conservation including lime works, earth structures, brick and masonry repairs, forging and welding.

James Crane has 30 years experience in traditional building and conservation and is a charted building consultant and a fully qualified building engineer. James enjoys membership of the institute of historic building conservation and has a masters degree in Architecture Building Conservation.

Thomas Beeby, After working in the building trade for a number of years, Tom has been working with Timber Framing and Conservation for the past year.
